5-in-1 Q&A

What is the 5 in 1 Technique®?

The 5 in 1 technique is a specialized dental implant surgery. During a 5 in 1 treatment, Dr. Cha compresses what are normally five separate procedures into just one 30-minute procedure.

She developed this technique in the 1990s, along with Leon Chen, DMD, in order to address the growing patient concern that dental implant restorations take too long.

Traditional implant procedures can take up to five years to complete. Many of the surgeries involved are long and potentially painful, and for your trouble, you have to endure using temporary removable dentures for years.

This can discourage many patients and leads some to quit partway through treatment.

The 5 in 1 technique changes all of that. During your 30-minute 5 in 1 surgery, Dr. Cha extracts your damaged teeth, strengthens your jawbone with bone grafting, places your implants, performs a hydraulic sinus lift, and installs fixed, temporary crowns in your mouth.

You can complete your implant restoration procedure three to six months later, with just one last visit to Dr. Cha’s office. At that appointment, she installs your custom-made, permanent teeth replacements.

What is a hydraulic sinus lift?

A hydraulic sinus lift, patented by Drs Cha and Chen as Hydraulic Sinus Condensing™ (HSC), is a revolutionary noninvasive sinus lift method that the Journal of Periodontology accepted in 2005.

To perform this procedure, Dr. Cha uses a hydraulic drill that she and Dr. Chen patented to lift the sinus membrane gently so that your jawbone can increase its density and successfully hold and fuse with an implant.

Using this procedure, Dr. Cha can also relieve you of even the most problematic sinus infections.

What are the advantages of 5 in 1 technique?

The 5 in 1 surgery offers you countless benefits.

Decreased procedure length

First, it takes years off the implant restoration process. Not only is the 5 in 1 procedure itself quite short, but you get your permanent crowns much faster. In addition, you enjoy a much shorter downtime.

Less pain

Another advantage of the 5 in 1 procedure is the fact that it eliminates unnecessary traumas that cause pain. While traditional dental implant procedures can be so painful that patients request general anesthesia, you can comfortably sit through a 5 in 1 surgery with just local anesthesia (numbing).

High success rate

Over the last 12 years, Dr. Cha has had a 99% success rate using the 5 in 1 technique.

If you’re interested in dental implants, don’t accept the painful and tedious dental restoration processes of the past. Instead, learn more about the 5 in 1 technique from one of the original innovators, Dr. Cha. To book a consultation, call the office!
